SLOVAKIAN topflight side FC Vion have invited three Southern Region Division One Soccer League players — Mbekezeli Sibanda, Njabulo Mpofu and Tawanda Muchaya — who play for Talen Vision, for trials.
The ambitious Southern Region Division One Soccer League side’s management will meet soon to discuss travelling modalities for the trio who are likely to leave at the end of the season.
Juma Phiri, Talen Vision’s manager, said: “Receiving an invitation from the Slovakian club to send the three players for trials is good for the club and the boys. We’ve been working on creating relations with foreign clubs and we’re happy that some of the boys who’ve been performing well have been presented with such a good opportunity to showcase their skills in Europe.
“However, the club’s leadership will meet soon to discuss issues to do with players’ travelling arrangements as well as their upkeep in Europe. As a club we don’t stand in players’ way should opportunities for greener pastures avail themselves and that is why the club’s management will make a decision which is in the best interests of the players.”
Sibanda, an attacking left-footed midfielder and defensive midfielder Mpofu are both 21-years-old while Muchaya, who plays on the right side of midfield, is 22.
Juma said a Congolese agent who facilitated the hiring of Slovakian coach Julius Simon as Talen Vision’s technical director arranged trials for the trio.
Simon started working for the ambitious Bulawayo side last month, and oversees Talen Vision’s first team as well as programmes for the club’s development sides.
The 55-year-old was capped 24 times by Slovakia during his playing days, scoring six goals before hanging his boots in 2010 at SC Columbia in Austria where he had spent three seasons.
Meanwhile, the championship race continues with Rovers playing host to Technosphere at Luveve Stadium tomorrow while Chiefs face tricky Makomo in Hwange.
Talen Vision, who are looking at finishing the season strong and probably set a foundation for a better start next season, face Black Boots at White City Stadium tomorrow.
They will bank on midfield trio of Sibanda, Mpofu and Michael Bhebhe, striker Godknows Sibanda and goalkeeper Wandile Ndlovu, who is on loan from Chicken Inn, as well the seasoned duo of Hillary Madzivanyika and Simon Njeleza, who have Premiership experience.
