Talen Vision sign DRC striker

AMBITIOUS Southern Region Division One Soccer League side Talen Vision have signed unheralded 19-year-old Democratic Republic of Congo striker Patrick Kingambo Body for an undisclosed fee.
Juma Phiri, the Talen Vision manager, said the striker, who has been in the country for two weeks, was recommended to the club by an associate and would be registered for next season.
Phiri said Body is part of the players that will form the core of the club as they challenge for honours in the 2017 season.
“We’ve started preparing for next season. We will not be holding trials and that is why we’re already signing players we feel will add value to our cause.
“The DRC striker is among the players whom we’ve successfully negotiated with to join our club and we’ve already secured a visa for him. He is a quality striker and we believe he will give us another dimension next season,” said Phiri.
The newly signed striker could join the trio of Mbekezeli Sibanda, Njabulo Mpofu and Tawanda Muchaya who have been invited for trials at Slovakian topflight side FC Vion.
“The management met and we’re in the process of sorting visas for the boys. Patrick is a good striker and since football is business, if it so happens that there is an opening for him to join the other players for trials that will be a wise business decision. In as much as we want to gain promotion, it is wise that we do football business and trade players for the club’s survival. By affording him and others opportunities to further their careers, we’re showing other players that Talen Vision is a club of choice which presents avenues to greener pastures,” said Phiri.
The Congolese agent who facilitated the hiring of Slovakian coach Julius Simon as Talen Vision’s technical director, arranged trials for the trio.
Simon started working for the ambitious Bulawayo side in September and oversees Talen Vision’s first team as well as programmes for the club’s development sides.
The 55-year-old was capped 24 times by Slovakia during his playing days, scoring six goals before hanging his boots in 2010 at SC Columbia in Austria where he had spent three seasons.
At the weekend Talen Vision staged a dramatic second half comeback when they beat Bosso 90 3-2, having gone to halftime trailing 0-2.
